Founded in 1926 through the Madras Act, Andhra University has grown into one of India's premier institutions of higher learning with a rich history spanning nearly a century.
As we approach our centenary in 2026, we celebrate our legacy of academic excellence, research innovation, and the countless alumni who have made significant contributions to society.

Alumni Association
The Andhra University Alumni Association connects graduates across generations, fostering lifelong relationships and supporting the university's growth and development through various initiatives.
Foundation & Early Growth
Established through the Madras Act of 1926, the university began with the College of Arts in 1931 and the College of Science and Technology in 1932.
Expansion & Diversification
The university expanded significantly, adding the School of Distance Education in 1972 and numerous specialized departments and research centers.
Modern Excellence
Achieved NAAC 'A' grade in 2002, ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2006, and hosted the prestigious 95th Indian Science Congress in 2008.
